American-Made Products in Walmart: Okabashi Shoes

A lot of folks think that Walmart is all about Chinese products.  Sometimes it seems that way.  But, a couple of weeks ago, I got a good deal on some American-made flip-flops at Walmart.  The shoes were made by a American company called Okabashi and are made in Buford, Georgia.  They are high tech, recyclable flip-flops, with arch support and comfortable soles.  They were displayed prominently on the sales floor.
The flip-flops that I got were called "Surf" and are all black with an aggressive tread design and comfortable foot bed.  You can read a complete review here:

  1. And founded by Iranian immigrants! We have to remember that immigrant families have been the lifeblood of our country since its founding. We are all immigrants (unless you are native American). "The Irvani family is no stranger to struggle. After manufacturing shoes in Iran for more than 50 years, the family was devastated when the Revolution of 1979 confiscated their factory and drove them out of the country. The Irvanis found sanctuary in the U.S., where in the early 1980s they started over and founded the innovative Okabashi Brands. Since then, the company has focused on manufacturing and selling comfortable and ecologically responsible sandals and flip-flops." http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000800931
